Us residents of South Cambs get a bit sniffy when we look over the border at Suffolk and Haverhill might as well be on the moon for all the attention we’d normally give it. OK residents of Haverhill might work in Cambridge but why would we ever go there? That’s sad because there really is a very good arts centre in Haverhill which puts on some very interesting shows. Today I did my bit for democracy. This morning I spent a couple of hours getting steadily colder outside Boots in Cambridge supporting a Cambridgeshire County Council budget priorities road show. And after lunch I manned a Lib Dem stand supporting democracy week at Cambridge Regional College. Quite a difference. (more…)
Cottenham Ploughing Society: 4 Oct 08 October 5, 2008

Yesterday was the day of the annual Cottenham Ploughing Society competition and dinner/dance. The weather was fine for the former and I attended the latter with number one wife and as a guest of Rick Bristow, parish council chair. The picture above is of the ploughing match committee of about 1950 but some of those guys look like they wouldn’t be out of place in an Al Capone movie! (more…)
